  • Summary

    Chris S. Mehring is an attorney in Goldstein & McClintock’s Milwaukee, Chicago and Detroit offices.  Mr. Mehring has practiced for over 27 years, in the areas of real estate, corporate and finance law.   He particularly focuses on commercial real estate and corporate transactions along with acting in a role akin to general corporate counsel.  Mr. Mehring also assists the firm’s attorneys on the transactional aspects (asset dispositions and DIP financing) of its bankruptcy matters.

    Mr. Mehring’s regularly represents regional and local banking institutions as well as busineses of all sizes in documenting, negotiating, and closing loan and acquisition transactions. The type of financial deals include term, construction, account receivables, syndicated multi-agented, New Market Tax Credit loans as well as leveraged buyouts for those financing arrangements. In addition, he represents lenders and corporate  owners in their modification and deferral agreements, forbearance agreements and workout situations on various loan transactions. 

    Mr. Mehring is currently representing a client in its equity raise of close to Ten million dollars for a company that has gone from a startup to a nationwide manufacturer and distributor of its beverage product.  In addition, Mr. Mehring also represents for profit and not for profit clients in their complex real estate development projects in various matters. Such projects may entail obtaining tax exempt financing (NMTC and Grants) for its real estate development projects. 

  • Background

    Prior to joining Goldstein & McClintock, Mr. Mehring worked for Husch Blackwell (f/k/a Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek) and Mallery S.C., in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Additionally, Mr. Mehring was an associate at the Chicago law firms of Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP and Goldberg Kohn.  He currently serves on the boards of Bridge to Brighter, Inc. and Summit Educational Association.

    • Represents a non-profit as its general counsel in acquiring a retail center and big box property and assisting in its $30 million state and city funded Chicago neighborhood development with affordable housing, retail and community amenities
    • Represents a company as its general counsel including assisting in documenting close to $10 million dollars in equity from investors in a beverage company
    • Represented a regional bank in over $20 million dollars in syndicated commercial real estate transactions each year
    • Represents a regional bank in over 10 new or modified commercial real estate loans over the last year
    • Represents a number of local banking clients in its documenting, modification and workout loans and leases with its real estate and accounts receivables customers
    • Represented a regional bank in a $71 million co-agented commercial real estate transaction for an office building in the Midwest
    • Represented a client in the purchase and financing of a CVS and Dollar General stores in the state of Florida
    • Represented a seller in a debt/equity recapitalization and equity buyout of its ownership interest in a California beverage company
    • Represented a buyer of an industrial park in the state of Indiana
    • Represented a Manitowoc based company in a $5 million dollar sale of its manufacturing business to a Georgia based company
    • Formed and represents a company in negotiating the purchase of an athletic and retail building and its conversion into a school in the Madsion, WI area
    • Represented a developer in issuing enforceability opinions on behalf of a U.S. logistics company with a Canadian lender
    • Represented a municipality in negotiating and issuing an enforceability opinion for a NMTC transaction to build a new hotel in the Milwaukee area
